The last known Gauge 2 track (actually dual
Gauge 1 and Gauge 2) was Tony Hobson’s beautiful garden railway
at Keswick Lodge, near Norwich, on land sadly now redeveloped.
It’s featured in NL & J 203, Autumn 2004, pointed out to me
by Michael Wrottesley who ran there. After that, there was
literally nowhere to run, but Gauge 2 equipment still turned up
at auctions, often very economically, and I started to build a
modest collection.
This photograph was taken by Michael Wrottesley. On the back it
says: "The late Dave Phillips with a meths fired G2 Atlantic. In
steam for 10 Hours!"
This railway had a section of mixed gauge track, reputedly made
as a special order by Tenmille.
